I will say it has been an interesting season so far.
The rain delayed Duck Commander 500, run Monday afternoon, was no exception. Heck, even jet dryers damaged some cars with air as the field went green under caution while work continued on the track.
Dale Earnhardt Jr., who many of our racers had, made an error regarding rare conditions, crashed the car, caught on fire and finished shotgun on the field. His goings on damaged Jimmie Johnson as well. Kevin Harvick, newly positioned over at Stewart Hass, looks like wreckers or checkers so far in 2014.
Joey Logano, who has been strong so far this season, collected his fourth all time win and first of 2014, taking the checkered flag at Texas Motor Speedway.
With most of us at work, I suspect few saw the race. I caught much of it on radio, and have come to one conclusion.
While the lovely Wendy Venturini does fine work reporting from pit road, the gang over at Performance Racing Network, who had coverage of the race, fails miserably to cover the action as well as Motor Racing Network. It got painful to listen as some points.
The Blue Deuce won the week, followed by Burke, Luckydog ( who was pining for a good run), O Racing and 88 AMPS.
Moving up were Burke and Luckydog, The Blue Deuce, Cosmo, ORacing and Team Hot Stuff. Several tumbled, inclusive of Eagles Nest, Punch, Chief Racing UFW, ME Racing, Big Boy, Fitz Racing, CF Canes, Ricky Racer and Team Wolf.
Team Taser continues to show the way, with Glynn, Burke, Man In Black and 88AMPS rounding out the top five.
We had two teams roll picks, and we will eliminate duplicates and re-adjust the point totals. The above commentary addresses the scores as adjusted.
This week we go Saturday night racing at Darlington Raceway, the track to tough to tame, as we run the Bojangles' Southern 500. A classic to be sure, the Lady in Black will be a handful for these drivers. The field is scheduled to go green at 6:45PM, so get those picks in.
Good Luck to all.
