Week 35 Commentary

After leaving Phoenix this afternoon, we have the closet chase standings coming into the final race, which should provide plenty of excitement next week in Homestead.

For the week, GBR88 and Pamela's Pistons, running out of the same garage, stole the show. Tucked in off the rear spoiler were Moneyshot Racing, Man in Black Racing and AFC patriots.

The top five stays the same, with Ricky Racer leading Blue 7 Racing, Pamela's Pistons, Moneyshot Racing and Team Taser.

Big gainers were The Big LeBowski, AFALAC, Big Time Drivers and AFC Patriots. Collected up against the outside retaining wall were Team Wolf, Crank McTanken, BAHL, Tank Racing and Slow Motion Racing.

We will settle the championship down in Homestead next weekend. Good Luck to all and stand on it!

Week 34 Commentary

It was a typical race out in Texas as we get ever so closer to declaring a champion for 2010.

BMF Lugnuts took the checkers for the week, followed by Burke, O Racing, Blind Squirrel and AFC Patriots.

Offshore Gamester, O Racing and Burke gained several spots, while Runnin on Fumes, Lisa Las Vegas, The Big LeBowski and Tank Racing were those that tanked.

It was an exciting day at The White Knuckle Highway at Talladega for the running of the AMP Energy 500. AJ Allmendinger was the only roof dancer fo the day.

Slow Motion Racing won the week in the Conway NASCAR League. Slow running fast was followed by BMF Lugnuts, Burke, BAHL and The Gas Man.

Ricky Racer continues to show the way in the overall standings. Blue 7 Racing, Pamela's Pistons, Racing Fever and Moneyshot Racing round out the top 5. Only a few weeks left to settle the season.

For the week, Crank McTanken, Slow Motion Racing and Burke each gained five spots or more. Speedway Princess, The Big Lebowski and Ratatack each fell at least 5 spots.

This week we head to Texas Motor Speedway for the AAA Texas 500. Elliott Sadler is our pole sitter and Kyle Busch won final happy hour practice.

The green flag will drop at 3:19PM EST. Stand on it!

Sunday, October 31, 2010

Week 32 Commentary

We wrapped our short track schedule with a run at Martinsville, and many of racers needed a Goodys powder after leaving with a headache. The scores were not impressive.

Denny Hamlin won the TUMS Fast Relief 500 and Ratatack Racing won the Conway NASCAR League for the week. Ratatack was followed by Oiler^, Slow Motion Racing, The Blue Deuce and Smoke's Fury.

Ricky Racer continues to lead the way with time dwindling down. Blue 7 is second, with Racing Fever, Team Taser, who is making a late charge, and Captain Schwab rounding out the top five.

Big mover this week were Ratatack, Smoke's Fury, The Blue Deuce and Slow Motion Racing. Mama's Boy and Cosmo threw anchor, while Disc Golfer lost and engine and dropped 14 spots.

This week we are at the White Knuckle Highway at Talladega Super Speedway for the Amp Energy Juice 500. This speedway, built on an old Indian burial ground, always produces weird goings on, and of course, the big one. To add to the mystery, the race today will of course be run on Halloween. Oh my!

This is the last major hurdle of unknown for the chasers and for us arm chair racers in the Conway NASCAR League.

Stand on it!

Week 31 Commentary

The last night race for the season at Charlotte saw a non chase participating Jamie McMurray pick up another big win. The Gas Man took the CNL checkers.

Following The Gas Man across the victory stripe were Smoke's Fury, Raing Cane, Team BC and BMF Lugnuts.

Ricky Racer continues to show the way, with Blue 7 Racing, Pamela's Pistons, Captain Schwab* and Racing Fever.

Smoke's Fury and The Gas Man were the only driver to gain a minimum of five spots. Oiler^ and Racin on Fumes fell five or more.

This week we once again go short track racing up in Martinsville. The green flag is set to drop at 1:16PM.

Obviously, it is far past time to mash the floorboard. Stand on it and good luck!

Next week, the white knuckle highway.

Week 30 Commentary

As Tony Stewart took the checkers at AutoClub Speedway and the Pepsi Max 400, Ricky Racer has jumped back in front of Blue 7 as we get set to settle the 2010 Conway NASCAR League.

THE BOXES HAVE CHANGED for our final box set for 2010.

Back at AutoClub, Runnin on Fumes caught fire and won the day, follwed by SPC Racing, MT Pockets, BMF Lugnuts and Hot Stuff Racing.

Non start and park drivers int he garage area were Mama's Boy and Team Cuda.

Runnin, Ratatack and Blind Squirrel each gained over 5 spots. Mama's Boy, Cuda and S&T Racing each fell at least 5.

We got our last Saturday night race of the year as we are in the comfy confines of Charlotte NC for the running of the Bank of America 500. Jeff Gordon is on the pole and Carl Edwards was fastest in Happy Hour Practice.

Sunday, October 10, 2010

Week 29 Commentary

Other than the exchange between Kyle Busch and David Reutimann, it was fairly ho-hum as Greg Biffle scored the win at Kansas Speedway.

Punch, running well and a real threat to win this segment, again took the checkers. Dr. was followed by Ricky Racer, O Racing, Blind Squirrel and Pamela's Pistons.

Blood or Tears, The Gas Man and WTC Racing were those teams who still compete who had bead weeks.

The top four remain the same, with Blue 7 in his familiar spot up front (not necessarily from our league but from the old days tearing tracks across central Florida). It is real close out there now and really hard to gain positions. Only Glynn^ gained or lost 5 or more spots, and Glenn was on the good side of that stat.

This week we haul out to AutoClub Speedway in California for the running of the Pepsi Max 400. They will drop the green flag at approximately 3:16PM.

Good Luck

Sunday, October 3, 2010

Week 28 Commentary

It was tight racing at the AAA 400 in Dover this week, and there was very little movement int he standing in the Conway NASCAR League.

For the week, Ratatack took the checkers, followed by BAHL, MT Pockets, GBR88^ and Blue 7 Racing. Fuller Fast Track and Burke were those who found themselves in the garage area.

Blue 7 further cemented his lead by scoring a top five at Dover. Ricky Racer, Captain Schwab, Mondeyshot Racing^ and 2 or 5 Race round out the top five.

Ratatack was the only big mover, gianing six spots. Pamela's Piston dropped six and Fullers Fast Track fell eight.

This week we are in Kansas for the running of the Price Chopper 400. Green flag drops at @1:16. Kasey Kahne is our polesitter.

Good Luck

Week 27 Commentary

Apologies for being a little late on the commentary this week.

Punch took high score for the race at New Hampshire. Also having soring high were L&M Racing, Offshore Gamester, Team Cuda, Smoke's Fury and No Ones Beatch.

There were very few significant moves either way in standings. Smoke's Fury was the only racer to move up at least five spots while Team Hot Stuff, Speedway Princess and AC Patriots fell a minimum of five spots.

Blue 7 continues to show the way, followed by Ricky Racer, Captain Schwab, Moneyshot Racing* and Pamela's Pistons.

This week we hit the Monster Mile in Dover, which is usually a fun race.

Good Luck!

Sunday, September 19, 2010

Week 26 Commentary

Kevin Harvick took the checkers at Richmond this past week as we set the field for the chase. Like many races this year, Richmond was kind of a strange race.

Anyhow, we now know who the chasers are and will see if Jimmie Johnson can win an unprecedented fifth straight championship.

For the week, SPC Racing won the week, followed by BMF Lugnuts, Burke, Wiseguys, Speedway Princess, Mama's Boy and Fullers Fast Track. At the rear of the field were most of the same old start and park regulars (teams rolling picks).

Blue 7 continues to lead, followed by Ricky Racer, Captain Schwab, Pamela's Pistons and 2 or 5 Race. It grow increasingly more difficult to gain from here on out.

BMF and SPC were the big gainers this week, while Hot Stuff*, Smoke's Fury and AFLAC Racing lost the most ground.

We start the chase this weekend at Loudon New Hampshire for the running of the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle and Clint Bowyer stopped by to visit with gang at FOX & Friends to preview the chase.

The green flag drops Sunday at @1:16PM. Stand on it!

Saturday, September 11, 2010

Week 25 Commentary

Tony Stewart got his first win of the season at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend, and while there have been only modest movements in the Conway NASCAR League standings of late, there were some big swings this week.

Blue 7 Racing has taken the lead, with Ricky Racer, Captain Schwab, Pamela's Pistons and WTC racing rounding out the top five.

Team Collin won the week, with Mam's Boy, Two or Five Race, Hot Stuff and S&T Racing scoring a top five finish.

In the overall standings, Team Taser, who has consistently been at or near the top since entering the league a few years back, fropped five spots and in now out of the top ten. BMF, Tank Racing, Lisa Las Vegas, No Ones Beatch, Raising Cane and WTF Racing all few several spots. Hot Stuff, Cuda, The Big Lebowski, S&T Racing, Snookbabe and Lucky Penny gained a handful of spots.

This week we are in Richmond for the Air Guard 400 at Richmond International Raceway. The green flag is scheduled to drop at 7:46PM EST on Saturday night, just about the time big football games for the Canes and the Noles finish up.

Good Luck to all!

Sunday, August 29, 2010

Week 24 Commentary

Kyle Busch finally swept a weekend, winning in the Craftsman Truck Series, the Nationwide and Sprint Cup series at Bristol, a noteworthy feat to be sure.

Although we did have a few shakeups, there was not a lot of major movement in the standings.

Up front, Captain Schwab fell to third as Rick Racer, our week winner, took the lead and brought Blue 7 with him. Pamela's Pistons and Moneyshot Racing round out our top five.

Following Ricky Racer for the week were BMF Lugnuts, Mama's Boy, Racing Fever and CosmoD. We had the usual start and parkers in the back.

Among those who did make some omves this week were Mama's Boy, Smoke's Fury, CosmoD, and BMLF Lugnuts. Losing the draft were Team Hot Stuff and SPC Racing, who unlike Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon, did not have an adequate back up driver secured as he welcomed a new born into the family.

After a week off, THE BOXES HAVE CHANGED for the next race which will occur on Labor Day weekend as we run the Emory Healthcare 500 Sunday night, with the green flag dropping at @7:46PM at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

This is a great time of year, with football kicking off.

Good Luck to All!

Week 23 Commentary

Another rather boring day at Michigan International Speedway. The big news of the day was Kurt Busch losing an engine, and for those among the Conway Racing League that had selected him, the day ended badly.

Flat Tires Racing won the week, followed by Racing Fever, MoneyShot Racing^, WTC Racing and Blue 7 Racing.

Fitz Racing is on the start and park plan, but Shake & Bake did find some sponsorship and ran well this week. Irish Racing, Batson Roofing Racing, MT Pockets, DFL, Blood or Tears and Budah had engine trouble.

Captain Schwab took the lead from Ricky Racer this week. Pamela's Pistons, Blue 7 and Moneyshot Racing^ are nose to tail with the leaders.

Moving up this week were Mama's Boy, Flat Tires Racing, Glynn^, Runnin on Fumes, Fullers Fast Track and Racing Fever.

Those losing the draft were CosmoD, MT Pockets, Lisa Las Vegas and Smokes Fury.

This is the week we have all been waiting for, the Bristol night race. The IRWIN Tools Night Race is scheduled to go green at 7:43PM. Should be fun!

Week 22 Commentary

Sorry for the tardy update as it has been a busy week.

Tank Racing took the checkers for the Bud at The Glen race, followed by Speedway Princess, Fuller's Fast Track, Smoke's Fury and Oiler^.

Fitz Racing and Shake n Bake are in a start and park phase. Brady Bunch, DFL and Budah had engine trouble.

Ricky Racer continues to show the way with Captain Schwab, Team Taser, Pamela's Pistons and Bue7 Racing hanging in the draft.

Tank Racing, Smoke's Fury and Fuller's Fast Track were the only drivers to jump 5 or more spots. Blind Squirrel, Team Cuda, Glynn^, Ratatack, O Racing and Wiseguys fell at least five spots.

We had a good time at The Wingshack for our midseason party. Thanks to Shawn, Jessica and Mel for keeping us in line.

We are at Michigan International Speedway today for the running of the Carfax 400. Kasey Kahne is on the pole and the rag drops at 1:16PM.

Good Luck

Week 21 Commentary

It was another strange weekend at Pocono, a place where just about anything can happen. One time, a deer ran across the track and back in the day with Kyle Petty leading in the Mello Yellow Pontiac a spectator eluding his girlfriend ran across the back straightaway.

It has also been a place for horrendous wrecks, and we had another one Sunday. Thank goodness Elliott Sadler survived, thanks in large measure to the HANS device if you ask me. If you check our facebook page, you recall we recently posted comments by Greg Biffle about the dangers at Pocono.

One would think the leader in worldwide sports would have video of it, but no. ESPN better get on the stick or get out of the way and let someone else handle it.

Ricky Racer remains our leader, followed by Captain Schwab, Team Taser, Blue 7 Racing and Pamela's Pistons.

For the week, Pamela's Pistons took the checkers, with WTC Racing, Team Wolf, CosmoD and SPC Racing rounding out the top five.

Shake & Bake, The Blue Deuce, whose day was ruined by Jimmie Johnson, Team Irish, Batson Roofing and Fitz Racing finished in the rear.

SPC, CosmoD, Crank McTanken, Slow Motion Racing, Team Cuda and O Racing all moved up 5 or more spots. Only Tank Racing, Offshore Gamester and The Blue Deuce lost 5 or more.

This week we are up in Watkins Glen for our second and final road course run of the year. The Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen cuts them loose at 1:18PM EST on Sunday. The 24 and the 14 own road courses, so we shall see.

We will be having our MID-SEASON PARTY this week at The Wingshack. The green flag on our allotment starts at 1PM, so don't show up at 2:12 and wonder what happened.

Look forward to seeing everyone.

Week 20 Commentary

The running of the 2010 Brickyard 400 was very strange and resulted in low scores for much of the Conway NASCAR League.

BMF Lugnuts took the checkers, followed by Chevy Intimidators, Cuda, Miss Make Shit Happen and the trio of O Racing, WTC racing and Team Collin. Several others were right behind this group. Fitz Racing and Shake & Bake look like they are loading up their respective haulers while Batson Roofing, CosmoD (fresh off his bands stellar performance at the Fraser Fundraiser at the Shack) and DFL were among those not fairing well.

Overall, Ricky Racer is still showing the way, followed by Captain Schwab, Team Taser, Blue 7 Racing and Moneyshot Racing.

Lisa Las Vegas, Speedway Princess, Lil Boy^, O Racing, Disc Golfer and Flat Tires Racing each moved up at least five spots. Dropping were Glynn^, SPC Racing, CosmoD, L&M Racing and Oiler^.

This week we are back at Pocono again for the Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500. The green flag should drop at 1:18PM EST.

We will be having our midseson party next week, August 8, 2010, for the Bud at the Glen cup race at Watkins Glen. It will be held at the Wingshack at 1PM.

Week 19 Commentary

So much for all the whining about David Reutimann winning at Chalotte last year primarily due to rain. At Chicagoland, Reutimann drove past everyone and collected a well deserved victory as he took the checkers at the Lifelock 400, and no asterisk needed. Among the top drives who had a bad night were Greg Biffle and Kevin Harvick.

Chicagoland is usually a safe race for potential chase contenders as there is usually not much mixing it up up there. And that held true in the Conway NASCAR League, as there was not a lot of movement in the standings.

For the week, Punch wins for the second week in a row. Speedway Princess and Fuller's Fast Track tied for second followed by Smoke's Fury and Flat Tires.

Among those in the garage were Fitz, Team Monkey, Blood or Tears, Raising Cane and Shake & Bake Racing.

Ricky Racer continues to show the way, with Captain Schwab now second followed by Team Taser^, Blue & Racing and Team Wolf.

Moving up were Burke, Oiler^, Fuller's Fast Track and Glynn^. S&T Racing, Ratatack, Blood or Tears, Wiseguy and Raising Cane (U) fell hard.

After a week off, we head to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the running of the Brickyard 400, Recently, we hit the 25th anniversary of Live Aid and I remember what an anticipated event it was when the cup cars ran Indy for the first time.

Certainly, even now this is a big race and one where many drivers covet a victory. Only six active drivers have won here, and those six are Jeff Gordon, Bobby Labonte, Bill Elliott, Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart and Jimmie Johnson.

The green flag is scheduled to drop at 1:19PM EST over on ESPN.

Cup Drivers Dominate Nationwide

Got a tweet from Florida Senatorial candidate Marco Rubio (R) this morning which asks a good question:

Is it just me or isn't it wrong to let all these Sprint Cup drivers dominate the Nationwide races as well?

I think the cup drivers in the Nationwide is a good thing as competition brings out the best in everyone.

What do you think? Fire away in the comments section below.

PS: Thinking of Adam Petty, who would have been 30 today.

Week 18 Commentary

To close out the last week with the second box set at The World Center of Racing for the running of The Coke Zero 400, you just knew we would get some major shakeups int he standings, and we did.

Up front, Ricky Racer continues to lead, followed by Team Taser, Captain Schwab and Blue 7 Racing. Moneyshot jumped into fifth spot.

Elsewhere, it was yo yo central. The big gainers were Punch, S&T Racing, O Racing and Disc Golfer. It was on the down side where we saw the real movers, as the following racers lost 8 or more spots: Tank Racing Big Boy^, Lil Boy^^, The Big Lebowski, Mama's Boy, Team Cuda, Wiseguys Racing, Fullers Fast Track, Burke and Speedway Princess.

For the week, Punch and S&T tied for the win, with O Racing , Ricky Racer and Team Hot Stuff rounding out the top five scorers. Collected in the big one were Fitz Racing, Team Irish, Batson Roofing, Wiseguys Racing, Fullers Fast Track and Speedway Princess.

Please be aware the BOXES HAVE CHANGED, and your score will certainly be low if you roll this week, which puts us in Chicagoland for the running of the LifeLock 400 Saturday night. At 7:46PM EST, they will put em under green.

After Chicago, we take a week off before the cup cars hit Indianapolis for the Brickyard.

Friday, July 2, 2010

Week 17 Commentary

Everyone seemed fairly bunched up this week as Jimmie Johnson took the checkers at NHIS.

Ricky Racer has regained the lead from Team Taser, with Captain Schwab, Blue 7 and Team Wolf drafting closely.

Ricky Racer also won the week, and was followed by an eight car draft for second which included Captain Schwab, Moneyshot Racing^, 2 or 5 Race, Big^ & Lil Boy^, Glynn^, Blind Squirrel and Lisa Las Vegas.

Die Hard, Shake & Bake, Fitz and DFL were in the garage.

Offshore Gamester, Big Time and Runnin of Fumes had poor weeks while GLynn and Blind Squirrel gained over 5 spots.

As I am sure you are aware, this week we return to The World Center of Racing for the running of the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway.

The Firecracker 400 is always a great race, and was particularly neat last year as Tony Stewart punted a deserving Kyle Busch.

In honor of his 600th start, Bobby Labonte will be your Grand Marshall. They will put them under green at 7:49PM. Stand on it!

Saturday, June 26, 2010

Week 16 Commentary

It is always a crapshoot on the road courses and the scores are usually higher as the drivers in boxes 7 & 8 include some of the road course ringers.

As usual, I did poorly with Matt Kenseth wrecking Bobby Labonte. Like Kyle Petty, I am still wondering what happened o Kurt Busch.

Team Hot Stuff led the way this week, with Team BC, SPC, Ratatack and MMSH rounding out the top five. In the garage area with transmission problems were Shake & Bake, DFL, Flat Tires, Fitz Racing and M. T. Pockets.

Team Taser has regained the lead from Ricky Racer with Team Wolf, Captain Schwab and Blue 7 Racing in ho pursuit.

Hot Stuff, Ratatack and SPC were the big gainers this week while Big Boy^, Lil Boy^, Runnin on fumes, Lisa Las Vegas, M/ T. Pockets, Flat Tires and Brady Bunch all lost major ground.

We are up in New Hampshire this week at Loudon for the Lenox Industrial Tools 301. Juan Pablo Montoya is on the pole and the green flag is scheduled to drop at 1:15PM EST sunday.

Saturday, June 19, 2010

Week 15 Commentary

Michigan did not provide much of an opportunity for major advancement in the standings. Blue 7 Racing won the week followed by Lisa Las Vegas, Tem Hot Stuff, Burke and Moneyshot Racing^. In the garage area with engine failure were Shake & Bake, Fitz, Disc Golfer, Budah and Team Collin.

Overall, Ricky Racer continues to show the way with Team Taser, Blue 7 Racing, Captain Schwab and Team Wolf in hot pursuit.

There were no big moves up or down this week. Among those who did gain spots were Hot Stuff, Lisa Las Vegas, S&T and Ratatack. Dropping down were GBR88, Blood or Tears, Blind Squirrel, Fullers Fast Track, Chevy Intimidators, AFLAC Racing and Disc Golfer.

This week we head out to Sonoma for our first road course race of the year at Infineon Raceway. Former Nebraska and San Francisco 49er star Roger Craig will be your Grand Marshall and drop the green flag. The race is set to go green at 3:19PM EST

Happy Fathers Day and Good Luck to all!

Week 13 Commentary

It was a very rough week for the Conway Racers at Charlotte Motor Speedway as we ran the Coca Cola 600. It seems the difficulty went beyond Jimmie Johnson crashing out. After the race, Jeff Burton joined the long list of competitors pissed at Kyle Busch.

Team Taser^ continues to show the way, and given his track record, folks may want to start reeling him in before he gets away. In close high speed pursuit are Ricky Racer, Team Wolf, Captain Schwab* and Pamela's Pistons*.

For the week, Fullers Fast Track grabbed the checkers followed by Speedway Princess, The Blue Deuce, Pamela's Pistons, Captain Schwab and URBANSGATORS.

Those in the garage area were Batson Roofing, Onaroll Racing*, Danielle Hall, Shake & Bake Racing* and AFLAC Racing.

The standings did not see much in the way off major shakeups. Moving higer were URBANSGATORS, Offshore Gamester, L&M Racing, Speedway Princess, Cosmo D*, Fuller Fast Track and The Blue Deuce.

Losing ground were Racing Fever, Team Hot Stuff*, Disc Golfer*, DFL Racing, Big Boy^ and Lil Boy^.

This week we take the first of two quick trips to the Poconos as we run the Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500 at Pocono. The race coverage moves over to TNT as FOX concluded their portion of NASCAR coverage. The green flag is scheduled to drop at 1:18PM.

Week 12 Commentary

Kyle Busch pretty much dominated the weekend at Dover International Speedway, winning the Nationwide and Sprint Cup races. It was a fairly clean race, and our scores in the Conway NASCAR League indicated as such.

For the week, as we close out segment #2, Pamela's Pistons won going away. She was followed over the finish line by Fullers Fast Track, Speedway Princess, Chevy Intimidators and Glynn^. Among the few who had trouble in Dover were Team BC, Batson Roofing, No Ones Beatch, Team Irish and On A Roll Racing.

Team Taser continues to reside in a familiar place: in the lead. Behind Taser is Ricky Racer, 2 or 5 Racing, Team Wolf and Captain Schwab.

There were no significant moves in the standings. Those moving up over 5 spots were Pamela's Pistons CosmoD, Fullers Fast Track, BAHL, Brady Bunch, Speedway Princess and GBR88^. Falling over five were Wiseguy, DFL Racing, Ratatack, Burke, No Ones Beatch, Team BC and WTC Racing.

This week we will race a non points event, The Sprint Showdwon, at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday night. Do not make picks for this race!!!!!!!!

We will then run the Coca Cola World 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway next Sunday on Memorial Day Weekend. The Conway NASCAR will also be working with a new set boxes!!!

We also want to extend our best wishes to Brian Vickers, who is working his way through some blood clots.

Enjoy the holiday and look for Ricky Racer & Lisa Las Vegas nestled amongst the Miller Lite cans in the infield!

NASCAR Hall of Fame

This week, the lonmg awaited NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte NC opened its doors.

I think this is a real big deal for NASCAR, as I find the history of this sport a compelling story for not only the NASCAR nation, but for anyone interested in history.

Week 11 Commentary

The Track Too Tough To Tame lived up to its billing unless your name is Denny Hamlin, who swept both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup races at Darlington this weekend. We should all go out and get some knee surgery!

Scores were a bit below average for the Conway Racers this week, but Captain Schwab found his way to the front for the week. Offshore Gamester grabbed some special oil from the Gulf to come in second, followed by Ricky Racer, Runnin on Fumes^ and Team Taser.

Failing to crack the 800 point total for the week were RP5 Racing, The Blue Deuce, Batson Roofing, Blind Squirrel Racing and Oiler^.

There was not a lot of major movement in the standings this week. Gaining over 10 spots were Captain Schwab, Offshore Gamester and Team Collin. Joining Jimmie Johnson in free fall were Blind Squirrel, Blue Deuce, RP5 and Oiler^.

On this day 10 years ago, we lost Adam Petty.

We return to Sunday afternoon racing this week as we head up to Dover Downs and the Monster Mile for the Autism Speaks 400. The green flag drops at @1:16.

Stand on It!

Saturday, May 8, 2010

Week 10 Commentary

Kyle Busch scored his first win in a while at Richmond International Raceway Saturday night. While there were a handful of racers in the Conway NASCAR League who posted good scores, most left Richmond banged up.

For the week, The Big Lebowski led the way, followed by Team Taser^, Captain Schwab, Team Collin and WTF Racing. Team Taser, who has dominated the league in large measure the last two seasons, is solidifying his spot up front, and this is not good for the rest of us.

Overall, Team Taser^ leads Two or Five Racing, Soccer ace Team Wolf, Runnin on Fumes* and Moneyshot Racing^.

Those who left Richmond mangled up Team Irish, RP5 Racing, Team BC, Budah and AFC Patriots.

In the standings, Captain Schwab, Ratatack, Lucky Penny and Glynn^ all gained significant ground. Losing mega spots were Oiler^, Bruke, S&T Racing, RP5 and AFC Patriots, who dove in the Crown Royal after falling 29 spots.

It is Mothers Day weekend and that means no Sunday race, so we will run Saturday night at Darlington. The cicuits oldest superspeedway, The Lady in Black will reach up and give several drivers and Darlington stripe. Some drivers just cannot get handle on the track too tough to tame, so it should be interesting.

Jamie McMurray is on the pole, and the green flag is set to drop at 7:44PM.

Darlington is home to the best finish of all time. Relive the memory below:

Week 9 Commentary

It is always a crap shoot when we head out to the Talladega Superspeedway for the running of the Aarons 499, and this week was no exception. The racing was clean for quite some time but it did get ugly late, and many racers, yours truly included, paid a heavy price.

Miss Make Shit Happen finally won a week, and that should give indication of the variance in the scores. Rounding out this weeks top five were Irish Racing, Disc Golfer*, Tank Racing* and Runnin on Fumes*.

Found doing interviews in the garage area were No Ones Beatch, Glynn^, BMF Lugnuts, Crank McTanken and BAHL. Tony Stewart was my only driver still rolling at race end.

Team Taser^ has taken the lead, a position he held most of 2009. Team Wolf is second, followed by Moneyshot Racing^, Two or Five and Running on Fumes Racing*.

Those who stayed in the draft gaining spots were Tank Racing, SPC Racing, Big Time Drivers, The Blue Deuce, MMSH, URBANSGATORS, Running on Fumes and Disc Golfer, who moved up 27 spots.

Crumpled sheet metal among the garage stall were BAHL, The Big Lebowski, S&T Racing, Glynn^, BMF Lugnuts, No Ones Beatch, Crank and Lisa Las Vegas.

Speaking of Lisa Las Vegas, did everyone see the message board. Her and Ricky Racer are heading to the Charlotte race and if anyone else is going, they would like to hook up. Send them a message on the board if you wish.

Keep in mind that this week we head to Richmond International Raceway for some Saturday night short track racing. They aim to put em under green at 7:46PM.

Good Luck

Week 8 Commentary

Maybe some other drivers should look into knee surgery. Since Denny Hamlin had it a few weeks back, he has been on fire. Hamlin took the checkers at Texas, which was run on Monday due to weather, which is occurring much to frequently than expected.

Team Wolf led the Conway NASCAR League followed by Irish Racing, Pamela's Pistons, Glynn^ and Rasing Cane.

Found doing interviews in the garage area were Man In Black Racing, DFL Racing, Tea, Collin, Speedway Princess and Miss Make Shit Happen.

Moneyshot Racing continues to show the way, followed by Team Wolf, Team Taser, Team Hot Stuff and Wiseguys Racing.

Do you think we might get a shakeup in the standings this week?

This week we head out to the Alabama Motor Speedway at Talladega for the running of the Aaron's 499. Obviously, we will encounter the big one and one can only hope none of your drivers are involved. It really is a crapshoot. They are set to put em under green at 1:16PM EST.

Good Luck

Week 7 Commentary

A trip out to Phoenix for the Subway Fit Fresh 600 on Saturday night presented a great opportunity for several of the Conway Racers, and Ryan Newman, but others had a miserable evening.

For the race, our top five include Team Hot Stuff, Two or Five Race, Ricky Race, AFC Patriots and Blind Squirrel Racing. In the garage area were Shake & Bake*, WTF Racing, Man in Black Racing, Team Cuda and Danielle Hall.

The boxes did a number on our standings as racers get some familiarity with the new groupings. We had a large amount of racers gain over ten spots, and they include Team Hot Stuff, AFC Racing, Two or Five, Mama's Boy, Ricky Racer, Blind Squirrel, Burke, Glynn^ Ratatack, Fitz Racing, Capt Schwab, Punch and WTC Racing. Among those tumbling in points faster than Charlie Crist's poll numbers were Slow Motion Racing, Flat Tires Racing, Bloodor Tears, RP5, MT Pockets, Team Cuda, L&M Racing, Fullers Fast Track and Big Time Racers.

Moneyshot Racing is in the lead, followed by Wiseguys Racing, Team Hot Stuff, Team Taser, who has quietly re-entered the top five and DFL Racing.

This week we head out to Texas for the Samsung Mobile 500, a very fast track which usually has limited close racing. The green flag drops at 3:16PM on Sunday.

Now that Kasey Kahne is moving over to Hendrick, will he be a good pick going forward or a lame duck?

Good Luck

Week 6 Commentary

Another rain delayed race took place Monday as the good ole boys ran up at Martinsville with Denny Hamlin taking the checkers. It was a strange race, but in the end several contenders disappeared leaving Hamlin alone up front.

Lisa Las Vegas led the way in the Conway NASCAR League, followed by Punch, Team Cuda, Snookbabe and Batson Roofing*.

Those who blew right front tires were Team Monkey*, Pamela's Pistons, On A Roll Racing, Ratatack Racing and Miss Make Shit Happen.

S&T Racing won the first segment and is showing the way, with Slow Motion, Moneyshot Racing, Wiseguy Racing and Flat Tires Racing.

Only Lisa Las Vegas, Team Cuda and SPC Racing gained 10 or more spots. Falling ten or more were Pamela's Pistons, Burke, Budah, BAHL and Ratatack Racing.

Please not we are entering the second segment and the boxes have changed.

We are off this week for the Easter Holiday before heading off to Phoenix for some Saturday night racing out in the desert. The Subway Fresh Fit 600 is scheduled to drop the green flag at 7:46PM EST

Good Luck

Week 5 Commentary

It was a rough week at Bristol for many a member of the Conway NASCAR League but just another day at the office for Jimmie Johnson, who piloted the #48 Lowes Chevrolet to yet another victory.

Leading the way for CNL for the week were a trio of races; MT Pockets, Snookbabe and CosmoD. Rounding out the top 5 were S&T Racing and Team Wolf.

In the garage area with crumpled up sheet metal were Danielle Hall, Fitz Racing, On a roll Racing, Team Cuda and Punch.

Moneyshot Racing is still the leader, with Slow Motion Racing, S&T racing, Wiseguys Racing and Pamela's Pistons hanging tough in the top five.

We had some big position gainers this week who included Offshore Gamester, Budah, AFC Patriots, MT Pockets and Team Wolf. Free falling were Fitz Racing, Danielle Hall, WTF Racing, Team Cuda, On a roll Racing and of course, Punch. Punch joins Miss Make Shit Happen (formerly 3 babe and IDDEW88) and CosmoD in 35+ points tumbles thus far this season.

We continue our with another short track this weekend as we visit Martinsville, VA for the Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500. The race is scheduled to get put under green at 1:16PM Sunday.

This will be last race with the first box set. Good Luck!

Week 4 Commentary

The Kobalt Tools 500 proved to be a very intriguing race on Sunday, with the race results a mixed bag of veterans and young drivers at each end of the finishing order. Kurt Busch, whose season looked like it was getting away from him, really dominated the day just he did a year ago.

Just when you thought the standings in the Conway NASCAR League might settle down without the big swings you see early in the season, forget it.

Past champions Lil^^ and Big^ Boy tied for the win this week, closely followed by Burke, MT Pockets and Money Shot Racing, (formerly Luckydog^). In the garage area was Team BC, Raising Cane and Miss Make Shit Happen.

Several racers picked up a bunch of positions this week, and they include Big Boy and Lil Boy of course, along with Blind Squirrel Racing, LuckyPenny, Onaroll Racing, The Blue Deuce and MT Pockets.

Falling down the charts were Team Hot Stuff, Crank McTanken, The Gas Man, WTC Racing, Lisa Las Vegas, Racing Fever, Smoke's Fury, Team BC, Team Collin and in total free fall were Offshore Gamester and Miss Make Shit Happen, who made commentary on the message board on RACESCORE.

Moneyshot Racing has taken over the point, with Slow Motion, Pamela's Pistons, GBR88 and The Big LeBowski rounding out the top five.

We take this week off and then get back going in Bristol, Tennessee for the Food City 500. Tempers do not work very well at Bristol, so it should be eventful. Bristol is a favorite top on the tour anyhow. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is the Grand Marshall and Dallas Cowboy tight end Jason Whitten will drop the rag, at @1:16PM.

Back to Atlanta, that was some goings on between Carl Edwards and Brad Kesolowski there at the end of Atlanta race. If you missed the action, here is a recap for your review.

NASCAR has placed Carl Edwards on probation for 3 races, which as I see it is light. I would have parked him one race. Not for attempting to spin Kesolowski, who has it coming from several drivers, but not thinking about what could have happened at those high speeds to others, both racers and spectators. What do you think?

Week 3 Commentary

While Jeff Gordon dominated and led the most laps at Las Vegas, it was once again Jimmie Johnson who took the lead lead and crossed the finish line first. I do like Jimmie but this is getting a bit much.

Several drivers were dialed in in The Conway NASCAR League as we has a three way tie for first between Wiseguys Racing, Mama's Boy and Blind Squirrel Racing. Crank McTanken was next but followed by a photo finish tie between MT Pockets, Pamela's Pistons, Team Hot Stuff, Money Shot Racing (formerly Luckydog) and S&T Racing.

Ricky Racer, Batson Roofing, The Blue Deuce, CosmoD and Speedway Princess were all in the garage area.

Mama's Boy, Blind Squirrel and Crank McTanken were out biggest movers of the week. Those who fell several spots were Blue 7, Fitz Racing, Ricky Racer, The Blue Deuce, Captain Schwab, Team Monkey and Burke.

Slow Motion Racing continues to show the way, followed closely by Team Hot Stuff, Pamela's Pistons, DFL Racing and Team LeBowski.

This week we are down in Hampton, GA for the Kobalt Tolls 500. Maybe there is in fact global warming, since unlike last year, final happy hour practice on Saturday morning was not postponed due to snow. Mark Martin was fastest, while pole sitter Dale Earnhardt, JR was second.

Atlanta is very fast and is usually one of the better races, with a handful of recent photo finishes. They will put them under green at approximately 1:16PM, so get your selections in early.

Good Luck

Week 2 Commentary

It will take a few weeks to get things sorted out and find out who is really dialed in for the 2010 season, but the whipsaw action we saw in the standings this week was breathtaking.

For the week, DFL Racing took the top spot with a strong score, inching out Slow Motion Racing, who was about to pull a Matt Kenseth and go 2 for 2 out of the gate. Also scoring top five finishes were Tank Racing, Pamela's Pistons (looking good so far) and Runnin on Fumes. ADD moment, did you see his log with his truck pictured? This cat ain't layin! Broken drive trains put Irish Racing, Man in Black, Cosmo and MT Pockets behind the wall.

Up front we find Slow Motion Racing, with The Big Lebowski, Hot Stuff Racing, DFL and Tank Racing close behind. Runnin on Fumes and Racing Fever gained the most spots, over 30, for the week. Ratatack, Team Taser* and Blood or Tears Racing also had strong moves.

The garage area looked like the unemployment office center as police were needed for crowd control. WTC Racing, lisa Las Vegas, BMF Lugnuts, WTF, Punch, L&M Racing, Fullers Fast Track, Team Wolf, Speedway Princess, Man in Black and Lucky Penny all fell several spots. CosmoD made every effort to set the record for the biggest tumble, tumbled for us some 47 spots!

We stay out west this week as head over to Las Vegas to roll the dice on the Shelby American at Las Vegas Motor speedway, which should no doubt be more exciting than AutoClub. I hear drinks may be served at Lisa Las Vegas's infield motorcoach. They aim to put em under green at 3:16PM.

Keep the shiny side up!

The Business of McMurray's Win

FOX Business Newtwork's Toby Smith interviews Jamie McMurray on his big win at Daytona.

Week 1 Commentary

Congratulations to Jamie McMurray for racing to the biggest win of his career by grabbing the checkers in the 52nd running of The Great American Race, The Daytona 500.

For the Conway NASCAR League, it was Slow Motion Racing who took the win, getting off to yet another fine start. Rounding out the top five were Team Hot Stuff, The Big LeBowski, WTC Racing and Lisa Las Vegas.

Collected in the big one were Budah, who has already unleashed commentary in one of the media center outlets (the RACESCORE message board), Blind Squirrel Racing, URBANSGATORS, Snookbabe, Irish Racing and Shake & Bake Racing.

It looks like we will have 72 racers this year. We did lose some long time racers this year in Diamond Dave, former champion and perennial front runner Luckydog and Fins Twin Turbo, who is dealing with some health issues we wish him well on. The economy no doubt sidelined a few teams as well.

From the high banks in Daytona we head all the way out to the Autoclub Speedway in Fontana, California for the running of the AutoClub 500. The green flag drops out there at approximately 3:19PM EST.

Stay out of the potholes!
