Congratulations to TEAM TASER on winning the 2009 Conway NASCAR League Championship!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Gas Man was burning the wheels off but could not reel in Team Taser. BMF Lugnuts was also driving the wheels off to grab a 10th place finish but fell just short.
Congratulations to Chad Knaus, Jimmie Johnson and Rick Hendrick on their historic 4th consecutive championship on the Sprint Cup Circuit.
Commentary and end of season party information to follow soon.
Jimmie Johnson is well on his way to a fourth consecutive championship after running away with the race at Phoenix International Raceway last weekend. Conway NASCAR League veteran Ricky Racer was in attendance, and as we noted in the week 31 commentary, he is quite bored with Johnson winning every weekend. Apparently, he is quite a conversation piece in the Phoenix infield.
Blind Squirrel Racing won the week, followed by CEBO, THe Gas Man, Lug Nuts and BMF Lugnuts. Several race teams have loaded up the hauler and have headed home.
The standings are tight with only one race to go. Only two racers moved up more than 2 spots, Lug Nuts and CosmoD. Lisa Las Vegas and Big Time Racers brushed the wall and dropped a few spots.
Although I am sure The Gas Man will keep the petal mashed, I doubt he can run down Team Taser. Team Taser would need about 2 DNF's on his team to open the door for The Gas Man, who is the only team that has a chance of catching Team Taser. Ricky Racer, BAHL (actually not a misprint) and WTF Racing round out the top five.
And, if you can believe it, after yet another year of intense weekly pre race deliberation, Boy Racing and Lil Boy have yet again found themselves tied. I may have to play a lotto ticket if I was one of them.
We wrap up the 2009 season down in Homestead for the FORD 400 at Homestead Miami Speedway. Jimmie Johnson need to only finish 25th to win the championship. Nothing against Johnson, but I think just about everyone is pulling for Mark "The Kid" Martin. The will put them under green at approximately 3:31PM EST
Texas is one of the fastest tracks we visit on the circuit but it is wide and there are very few altercations on the day, but one happened very early on and it was extremely costly to points leader Jimmie Johnson. Johnson got collected and finished deep in the 30's, allowing Mark Martin and Jeff Gordon to get back in the hunt.
Burke took the checkers for the Conway NASCAR League, followed by Mangler, Speedway Princess, Team Ish and the Gas Man. Burke was also among the top movers in the standings, along with Tippy Twister, Punch, Speedway Princess and a surprising surge by Budah.
Apparently, we have several racers parked in the garage. Brady Bunch*, S&T Racing and Glynn^ were those who were running short a cylinder.
Team Taser just about has the championship locked up, leading The Gas Man by almost 200 points. From third back there is some real close point totals in there, and you can bet there will be some shaking up going on.
This week we are out in the valley of the sun in Phoenix. Former Conway Racer Tigger, out of a ride this year, is out there looking for a seat for next year. The Checker O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway is a fun race and should produce a lot of tight racing.
Arizona Senator John McCain is the Grand Marshall and will give the command to start the engines. They will put them under green at approximately 3:31PM EST.
It was, as usual, a bone jarring affair at Talladega, Alabama during the AMP Energy 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. There were two late big ones, with both Mark Martin (first time ever) and Ryan Newman both flipping over.
In the Conway NASCAR League, Team Cuda white knuckled his way across the start finish line to lead our racers. GIRLS Racing, Punch, Snookbabe and S&T Racing all had top fives. Oiler^, RP5, Wiseguys, Team BC and WHS Racing had poor runs.
Team Taser, in similar fashion to Jimmie Johnson, has a rather commanding lead for our championship. Ricky Racer, The Gas Man, WTF Racing and Danielle Hall round our or top five.
Surprisingly, with all the carnage, there was not a lot of significant movement in the standings. Moving up were S&T Racing, Team Cuda, Snookbabe, Burke, Lug Nuts, Big Time Racers and Budah. In the garage with crumpled sheet metal were BMF Lugnuts, Crank McTanken, Jimbo, Blood or Tears Racing, Man in Black Racing and NJ Motorsports.
This week we head out to Texas Motor Speedway for the Dickies 500. Texas is very fast, but usually fails to produce any close racing. Maybe the double file restarts will shake things up. The look to put them under green at 3:16PM.
