It is always hair raising when running the high bank 2.66 mile Talladega Superspeedway, where he "big one" always lurks.
There really was not a real "big one", but Brad Keselowski did his best, causing two separate crashes. Somehow, in his 300th start, Denny Hamlin won the race. Danica Patrick led several laps also.
As is the norm, several contenders got caught up in various cautions and had dismal point days, and as you imagine, that trickled down into the Conway NASCAR League standings.
Team Taser, channeling Awesome Bill from Dawsonville running laps of 212 MPH, blistered the CNL field winning the week going away with a super strong score. Second place Luckydog, was 22 points behind Taser! JR Racing, KDog Racing and ME Racing rounded out our top five.
Team Taser strengthened his point lead, now 104 points, which is stout to be sure for this juncture of the season. No Ones Beatch, Glynn, Cosmo and Burke round out the top five. We may already be nearing the point where Taser will need one of his top drivers to have problems on a couple of weeks.
The standings saw major shakeups in the aftermath of our trip to The White Knuckle Highway.
Gaining big were JR Racing, KDog Racing, Luckydog, BAHL, SPC Racing, BMF Lugnut Merriweather, ME Racing, Pup N Suds Racing and Lisa Las Vegas.
Losing ground in the garage area were Pamela's Pistons, Little Circle Burner, Slim Shady Racing, 88 AMPS, O Racing, Chief Racing and Ricky Racer.
Due to Mothers Day this weekend, we will race on Saturday night from Kansas Motor Speedway. With the hometown KC Royals almost out of the pennant race already, it should be a big crowd in greater Kansas City.
The 5-hour Energy 400 Benefiting Special Operations Warrior Foundation is schedule to put the field under green at 7:46PM. Ryan Blaney will be making a start for Roger Penske in the #12 Ford.
Happy Mothers Day to all and Good Luck!
