Jimmie Johnson edged fellow Chevrolet driver Clint Bowyer, and a host of others, to take the Aaron's 499 at Talladega Super Speedway. It tied the closest finish in NASCAR history, matching Ricky Craven in his Tide Pontiac Grand Prix nipping Kurt Busch in his Sharpie Ford Taurus at Darlington.
Sweet Home Alabama indeed!
Glynn^ won the week, followed by Chief Racing, Smoke's Fury, Man In Black and The Big Lebowski.
The Big One collected a handful this week, including The Blue Deuce, Speedway Princess, S&T Racing, L&M Racing, No Ones Beatch, Fuller's Fast Track and Chevy Intimidators.
BAHL and Chief Racing each gained over ten spots, with Chief bolting into the top ten ins the standings.
Mama's Boy continues to show the way. SPC, The Gas Man, Team Taser and CosmoD are in chase.
The message board has been lit up with folks hammering us about points and drivers who are not declared for Sprint Cup points. For those out of the loop, a driver must declare what series they are racing for the championship in. This driver will not get NASCAR points in other series they run.
For example, Kyle Busch, who is running for the Sprint Cup, will not get Camping World Truck Series points and therefore would be ineligible to get points and win the Truck series championship.
When we first heard of this, and we did not like it, we set it up that whoever runs the Sprint Cup race will get points in the Conway NASCAR League, no matter where they are declared. As Luckydog pointed out on the message board, you can view your points, and all other drivers points, on the details page of Racescore.
Another topic on the message board is drivers who may be unavailable in the boxes. It would seem logical for Racescore to add every driver from the entry list, or for that matter, any driver who might even be contemplating running a Sprint Cup Race, so that we can add them to our boxes. Racescore seems to be waiting until after qualifying to add drivers. Qualifying is usually on late Friday afternoon, and we are wrestling a beer tap somewhere, not updating Racescore. We do add additional drivers when we can after qualifying if applicable. Steve Park was an example of this at Talladega, and he was added Sunday morning when I got to it.
This week, we are off for Easter. My Easter egg this year is Garnet and Gold!
We will be back on April 30, on Saturday night, for a run at Richmond International Raceway for the Crown Royal 400. They will put them under green at @7:43PM EST.
Rubbin, and Richmond, is Racin!
