Week 5 Commentary

Out on the left coast, we ran the Auto Club 500, reduced to 400 miles this year, and as usual, it was not the most exciting racing we have ever witnessed. The speeds were very high, up over 205mph at some points, but little tight racing and passing held our attention. And with DW's and Moneyshot Racings Kentucky Widcats up against Jeff Burton and most of the other drivers North Carolina Tar Heels, it was double duty on the big screen.

Kevin Harvick nipped Jimmie Johnson, who bested Kyle Busch, for the win. Bobby Labonte blew a tire and smacked the wall late, but really not much going on.

In the league, Pamela's Piston, who has been on fire since about the midpoint last season, won the day. She was very closely followed by Chevy's Intimidators, Tank Racing, Lisa Las Vegas, Wonder Bread Racing*, WTC Racing, Team BC and SPC Racing.

Not a whole lot of big movers up the scoring ladder in the points standings. Tank, The Big LeBowski, Wonder Bread and Runnin on Fumes gained the most. Surpisingly, several drives lost quite a bit of ground, including Little Circle Burner, Team Taser^, Boy's Toy, O Racing, No Ones Beatch, CF Canes7, L&M Racing and Fitz Racing.

Several of our racers who have failed to get the entry fee in have got with me and gotten squared away. Several have not, and you are close to being called to Big Red Hauler, which will then lead to having your team parked, indefintely, complete with press releases (calling you out right here on the blog). Please help get this behind us, as it is not fair to your fellow racers.

This week, we go short track racing in Martinsville, Virginia, which I can promise you is some great racing. The Goody's Fast Relief 500 will drop the green flag Sunday at 1:13PM, and it looks like Speed's Hermie Sadler will be in the #71 Chevy. Get those picks in early.
